The scale of exports is generally much higher than the scale of imports, and the global competitiveness of China's sanitary ware production and sales has gradually increased. However, in 2022, the total import and export volume and trade surplus of the sanitary ware industry decreased, and the total import and export volume and trade surplus were $13.2 billion and $12.898 billion, respectively.
From 2017 to 2021, China's sanitary ware imports as a whole showed a fluctuating upward trend, significantly increased in 2021, China's sanitary ware imports in 2021 $215 million, an increase of 39.74%, reflecting the increased demand of Chinese consumers for foreign sanitary ware products. Ranked second in terms of import value is "pottery washbasins, bathtubs and similar sanitary utensils", with an import value of 18.06 million US dollars, accounting for 12.0%; Imports of "plastic tubs, shower trays, sinks and basins" amounted to 16.94 million US dollars, accounting for 11.2%; The rest of the goods account for a relatively small proportion.
The main import source countries or regions of the sanitary ware industry are Thailand, Vietnam, Germany, etc., of which the amount of sanitary ware related products imported from Thailand in 2022 is 41.56 million US dollars, accounting for 27.5% of the total amount of sanitary ware imports that year; Followed by Vietnam, the import amount of 20.71 million US dollars, accounting for 13.7%; The amount of imported sanitary ware products from Germany was $20.26 million, accounting for 13.4%; Other countries import less than 10% of the total.
From 017 to 2021, China's bathroom exports showed an upward trend, and in 2021, China's bathroom exports amounted to 13.686 billion US dollars, an increase of 9.20%. In 2022, the export amount of sanitary ware has declined, and the annual export value of sanitary ware products is 13.049 billion US dollars, and the overall development of China's sanitary ware export market appears to be good.
From the perspective of export product structure, the export volume of most sanitary products has shown an upward trend in the past five years. Among them, in 2022, the export volume of "porcelain washbasins, bathtubs and similar sanitary appliances" was the largest, reaching 9.229 billion US dollars, accounting for 70.4% of the total export volume. Followed by "other steel sanitary utensils and parts", the export value was 1.692 billion US dollars, accounting for 13.0% of the total export value; Ranked third is "stainless steel sinks and washbasins", with exports of 1.271 billion US dollars, accounting for 9.7% of the total exports; Exports of other products were all below $1 billion.
The main export destination countries or regions of the bathroom industry are the United States, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, etc., of which the amount of bathroom related products exported to the United States in 2022 is 2.227 billion US dollars, accounting for 17.1% of the total amount of bathroom exports in the year; Followed by Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia, the export amount was 973 million yuan, 591 million yuan, 538 million yuan and 432 million yuan, accounting for 7.5%, 4.5% and 4.1% respectively.
